With the COVID-19 pandemic not showing signs of easing up, protecting yourself and others is crucial. In general, people are social beings. This makes it difficult to contain the virus. Many businesses have mandated the wearing of masks and social distancing. However, there are simple things you can do to protect yourself and others.

Wear A Face Mask

You probably already own a face mask and have been wearing it. If not, you would benefit by purchasing or making a face mask. This will help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The mask will help to prevent the spread of your germs to someone else. It also helps to keep germs from entering through your nose or mouth.

Many businesses are either requiring or strongly urging customers to wear a face mask for their own protection and for the protection of their employees. Some people see this as a political move or a way to control others. Many refuse to wear a face covering. You should never let this influence your own decision. For your own protection and the safety of others, wear a face mask while in a public setting.

After wearing your face mask or covering, launder your mask. Most masks can be machine washed. You can also soak them for 5 minutes in a disinfecting agent, and hang to dry.

Use Hand Sanitizer

Keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in your car. The first thing you should do after getting into your car is to apply hand sanitizer to your hands and arms. Then, remove your face mask from the back. Never touch the front of your mask. If you do, use the hand sanitizer again.

Maximize Your Shopping Experience

In an effort to limit your exposure to COVID-19, maximize your shopping experience. Make a list of what you need, and stick to the list. Try to choose one store that has all of your needs, so that you do not have to go from store to store. While you are in the store, be aware of your surroundings. Try to socially distance as much as possible. Keep at least 6 feet away from others.

If you live in an area highly impacted by COVID-19, you may want to order your groceries online. You can pickup at the store or have them delivered. This is a service that many stores offer for your safety and convenience.

Wash Your Hands

It may sound obvious, but washing your hands will help to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Wash your hands with soap and water for a good 20 seconds as soon as you get home from any public outing. If you work outside the home, be sure to wash your hands throughout the day and just before leaving from work. Wash your hands before preparing food and after eating. Finally, wash your hands before going to bed.

Simple steps can be taken to limit your exposure to COVID-19. When you need to be in a public setting, be aware of your surroundings and wear a face mask or face covering. Good hygiene will help protect you and others from this virus. An ounce of prevention can go a long way.
